Hours of Operation

Starting February 7, 2011 all U.S. Citizens seeking non-emergency services will need to use an online system to schedule an appointment.  The system can be accessed through our U.S. Citizen Services page on our Internet Site https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=ISL&appcode=1

Appointments for Consular Records of Birth Abroad will be available from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays.  All other services, including routine Passport and notarial services, will be provided from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Non-emergency walk-in services will no longer be provided.

Citizens in distress may call the Embassy 24 hours a day and receive immediate assistance.

The Embassy is closed to public on American and Pakistani holidays.

Visiting the Embassy

When visiting the Consular Section, you must take the Diplomatic Shuttle. It is located at Third Avenue near Quaid-e-Azam University Road, G-5 Islamabad.  The Diplomatic Shuttle will transport you from the Diplomatic Shuttle Service Center to the Consular Section for a small fee.  Please ensure that you have some kind of identification with you, preferably your U.S passport.  Other forms of identification may also be acceptable.  If you need emergency service or have lost your passport, please inform security at the Diplomatic Shuttle Service Center of this and state that you are an American Citizen.

Everyone entering the U.S. Embassy is subject to search.  No luggage, electronic or photographic equipment is permitted in our waiting room or on Embassy premises.
