American Reading Rooms
The "American Reading Rooms" are the partnerships between the Embassy of the United States of America and the selected institutions of Pakistan. American Reading Rooms provide access to current and reliable information about America through books, magazines, videos, Internet, databases, and programs to the general public. The resources of the American Reading Rooms are open and accessible to the public.
Each American Reading Room offers a "Window on America" and on its people, history, society, geography, government, and culture. This room is a place to read about America and to exchange views and opinions with Americans living in or visiting Pakistan.
Currently there are eight American Reading Rooms located in around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, and Karachi. Each is staffed by coordinators, bilingual Pakistani librarians, who are available during regular library hours to assist visitors with specific interests about the America. Please contact the coordinators for information on visiting hours, access to resources, reference queries, and programs at the American Reading Rooms.
