A procession will be held in Karachi on Thursday, Oct 4 at 11 am to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Hazarat Ali, a Muslim caliph. This annual procession has been peaceful in the past. However, traffic will be diverted from these areas.
The procession will start from a Shia mosque, Shah e Kharasan, about 6 kilometers in the northeast of Karachi, and will move through downtown Karachi on M. A. Jinnah Road to Kharadar, in the west of Karachi. The U.S. Embassy recommends that Americans avoid these areas during the procession. Sindh Government has announced they will close the local schools in Sindh on Oct 4.
