EU's Restriction To PIA
03/09/2007
A recent decision by the European Union (EU) to restrict PIA landing rights at European airports could mean an increase in bookings on other carriers flying from Pakistan to Europe, including popular routings on British Airways through London. As a result, we recommend that American travelers book their international airline tickets as far in advance as possible in order to guarantee availability on their preferred flight.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is monitoring the current discussions between the EU and Pakistan regarding air safety standards. However, PIA aircraft that are currently flying on routes to the U.S. via Europe (new Boeing 777 planes) are not subject to the EU restrictions and have not been barred from operating on safety grounds.
