The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has associated specific lots of two brands of peanut butter, Peter Pan and Great Value, with a recent outbreak of Salmonella, a disease-causing bacteria, in the United States. The CDC recommends that individuals who have purchased jars of peanut butter with the associated product code to discard the product.

The affected jars of Peter Pan and Great Value brands peanut butter have a product code located on the lid of the jar that begins with the number "2111." These products may have been shipped internationally.
