INTRODUCTIONThe Embassy's Economic Section is responsible for monitoring and managing the full range of economic matters between the United States and Pakistan. The Section interacts with the Government of Pakistan on bilateral and international economic policy issues, and reports on developments in macroeconomic performance, poverty alleviation, finance, trade, science and technology, and labor. In addition, we report on key sectors such as energy, aviation, and telecommunications. Currently, we are pursuing the following goals with the Government of Pakistan:
In the absence of a Department of Commerce Foreign Commercial Officer, the Economic Section works with our Foreign Commercial Service Colleagues http://www.buyusa.gov/pakistan/en/to promote U.S. exports to Pakistan, working with agencies such as the U.S. Trade and Development Agency at http://www.tda.gov and the U.S. Export-Import Bank at http://www.exim.gov. We also assist U.S. investment in Pakistan, working with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation at http://www.opic.gov The Economic Section continually interacts with U.S. firms doing business in Pakistan, often through the American Business Council of Pakistan at http://www.abcpk.org.pk/abcpk/html/home2.html and the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council at http://www.uspakistan.org/ DOCUMENTS AND WEB SITES
