EMERGENCY TRAVEL

MEDICAL TREATMENT OR ILLNESS/DEATH OF A FAMILY MEMBER

Applicants who need to travel to the United States urgently for emergency medical treatment, or the sudden illness or death of a family member are not required to schedule an appointment through American Express.

However, applicants must pay the $131 application fee at American Express prior to their interview. These applicants may bring their application and fee receipt to the Embassy prior to 11 AM on any working day. The Embassy reserves the right to determine what constitutes an emergency. Any case that is determined not to be an emergency will be rescheduled for a later date according to the Embassy’s nonimmigrant visa appointment schedule.

EMERGENCY BUSINESS TRAVEL

The Embassy may also accept emergency applications from applicants who are traveling to the US on last-minute, urgent business travel that cannot be rescheduled. These appointments are available only for the person conducting business in the US, and do not apply to spouses, children, dependents or friends who are accompanying for tourism.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR AN EMERGENCY BUSINESS TRAVEL APPOINTMENT?

Applicants must go to an American Express or SpeedEx office, submit their applications and pay the $131 application fee. American Express will then schedule you for an appointment within 3-4 working days after your application is accepted.

The Embassy reserves the right to determine what constitutes an emergency. Any case that is not considered to be an emergency will be rescheduled for a later date according to the Embassy’s regular nonimmigrant visa appointment schedule.
