Jamshoro (Sindh) – The U.S. Consul General Kay L. Anske relished the “long-term relationship” of the United States with University of Sindh, Jamshoro, and appreciated the “diverse nature” of students, faculty, and researchers at the university campus while speaking at a book donation ceremony here Thursday.
“Understanding and acceptance of differences between peoples begins with knowledge of these differences,” the senior American diplomat said while signing a grant agreement with the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Rafia Ahmad Shaikh. “The donation of these books and access to research is a first step towards this understanding.”
Under this grant the University of Sindh has received twenty-three prized books, including a 14-volume encyclopedia, on comparative religions and also an access to research and other types of assistance from Washington in developing presentations and class syllabus.
“The University of Sindh stands out in it that it has a separate Department of Comparative Religions as against most other universities,” Consul General Kay Anske remarked.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Rafia Ahmad Shaikh, thanked the U.S. Consulate for the books donation and observed that these books would be “extremely useful” for the researchers and all others interested in the study of comparative religions.
