Demonstrations are planned for Saturday, May 12 and Monday, May 14, and most likely each day the rest of next week as well. The demonstrations are expected to be peaceful, but as always there is the potential for violence to occur.
Saturday, May 12
A large demonstration is planned on Jinnah Avenue near the National Assembly in Islamabad on Saturday, May 12. Participants are expected to start arriving around 11:00 AM. The plan is for the main speakers to start at 3:00 PM and the event is expected to last until 9:00 PM. Up to 40,000 people are currently expected. Constitution and Jinnah Avenues around the government building areas will be blocked. There will be heavy traffic congestion on Ataturk and Agha Khan Roads near this area.
Monday - May 14, and the Remainder of Next Week
A demonstration is planned outside the Supreme Court building on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad on Monday, May 14, from approximately 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Additional police will be deployed around the Supreme Court and Parliament House. Roads around this area will be blocked starting at approximately 8:30 AM. This will cause traffic congestion in the city.
Demonstrations will most likely occur at the same time, place, and manner during the rest of the week between May 15 and May 18 (addition information will be provided in a later notice).
