U.S. Consulate Lahore Presents Gifts to Madrassa Children

September 25, 2008

Lahore - U.S. Consulate Principal Officer Bryan Hunt said he was "pleased to give Ramadan gifts" to the children of Jamia Maqsoodia here today.

"The holy month of Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer and service. It brings with it the spirit of sharing; and what could be better than sharing joy with children," remarked Mr. Hunt after he was greeted by the Jamia Maqsoodia administrator Qari Feroz. "I hope the children enjoy these gifts."

The U.S. Consulate in Lahore is presenting bags containing candy, school supplies, biscuits and juices for children at various institutions around the city to mark the holy month of Ramadan. Around 150 madrassa children received the gift bags.

"Islam is a source of profound strength and guidance for millions of Muslims across Pakistan and throughout the world," stated Public Affairs Officer Traci Mell. "We are honored to extend our greetings to you all as you continue your good deeds this month and look forward to Eidul Fitr."

The children, most of them under 12 years, were excited to get the bags and eager to open them.
