Eid-al-Fitr Greetings to the People of Pakistan from U.S. Ambassador Anne W. Patterson

September 30, 2008

Islamabad - The following is a statement to the people of Pakistan from U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson:

"At the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, worship, and reflection, millions of the followers of Islam are celebrating Eid as the renewal of faith and a time of great rejoicing. Muslims in Pakistan, as their brethren around the world, are going to thank the Almighty for the blessings they have been granted, and to demonstrate their commitment to Quranic teachings by helping those in need.

We as Americans treasure the relationship we have with our many Pakistani Muslim friends, and we respect the vibrant faith of Islam which inspires countless individuals to lead lives of honesty, integrity, and charity. It is my honor to extend warmest greetings and best wishes to Muslims throughout Pakistan. Eid Mubarak!"
