U.S. Provides Eid-ul-Azha Essential Food Packages to Benefit More Than 15,000 Displaced Pakistanis

Islamabad - The U.S. government in coordination with the Government of Pakistan's Ministry for Social Welfare and Women's Development today began distributing 2,000 Eid-ul-Azha essential food packages to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan.
"We recognize that those who are displaced bear a particularly difficult burden during this holy season of Eid," said U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson. "We are committed to working with the government of Pakistan and our international partners in meeting the immediate and essential needs of these families."
The food packages contain five kilograms of rice, five kilograms of sugar and one kilogram of tea. Of the 2,000 food parcels, 870 packages are being distributed to families in Nowshera and Marden while another 1,130 parcels are being distributed in Charsadda. The gift packages will benefit more than 15,000 people.
