U.S. Ambassador Condemns Terror Attack On The World Food Programme Islamabad Office
October 5, 2009
Islamabad - U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson today condemned the terrorist bombing at the World Food Programme's Islamabad office. "Senseless acts of violence against people who help feed the poor and hungry are an attack on Pakistani society," the Ambassador said. "Such cruel acts expose the true nature of the terrorists' agenda.
As part of an emergency relief program, the World Food Programme, the United Nations' frontline agency in the fight against hunger, has been providing vital food assistance to as many as 2 million Pakistani civilians displaced by conflict in the Swat Valley region.
"We extend our deepest sympathy to the injured and our condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in today's bombing," said the Ambassador.
