U.S. Consulate General in Karachi Inaugurates Business Visa Services

Karachi - The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi is open for business again, conducted visa interviews for business travelers to the United States. The initial applicants arriving for their interviews yesterday were greeted by Consul General Stephen G. Fakan who discussed with them the U.S. commitment to expanding business to business ties and economic opportunities with Pakistan.

In the evening, a celebratory reception was hosted by Mr. Fakan for a broad cross-section of Karachi business leaders to welcome the restoration of business visa services. Representatives from the Quetta, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Karachi and Women's Chambers of Commerce attended, as well as Executive Officers of the Pakistan Business Council, the American Business Council. They were joined by representatives of the Pakistan Banks Association, the Karachi Stock Exchange, the All Pakistan Textile Mills and many other prominent business leaders.

The resumption of broader visa services will take place next year when the Consulate in Karachi moves into an expanded facility.
