American Judges Complete Four Day Exchange
December, 18, 2009
Islamabad - The Honorable Morrison C. England Jr., U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of California, and the Honorable Janet Bond Arterton, U.S. District Judge for Connecticut, concluded the first official visit of American judges to Pakistan today.
During the four-day exchange, established by the U.S. Judicial Conference, the federal judges met with district and session court judges from across Pakistan to examine ways to improve case management efficiency. The Pakistani district and session court judges pledged to take up at least one initiative to improve efficiency. They will also meet with judges at all levels within their districts to share techniques and concepts learned from this experience.
"This has been a great opportunity for judges of both countries to share professional experiences and develop solidarity on implementation of the rule of law," Judge England said at the close of proceedings. "I will take back to my district knowledge that will also help me perform my job. It has truly been a two way exchange."
