NATO’s ISAF Commander and Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan Visit Pakistan

Islamabad - Gen. Stanley McChrystal, NATO's International Security Assistance Force commander traveled to Pakistan today to update Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on ISAF's operations in Afghanistan.  Amb. Mark Sedwell, NATO's senior civilian representative to Afghanistan, also visited to conduct meetings with NATO and Coalition diplomatic officials here.

Gen. McChrystal and Amb. Sedwell briefed NATO and Coalition ambassadors to Pakistan on ISAF's current operations in Afghanistan.

Gen. McChrystal, who visits Pakistan regularly to consult with Gen. Kayani on ISAF activities in Afghanistan, praised Pakistan's efforts to confront violent extremists and honored the sacrifices the country is making.  He also highlighted the successes being achieved through increased coordination between ISAF and Pakistan in strengthening border security and countering violent extremists.
