Correction For The Record: Report On Stability In Pakistan
June 14, 2010
Islamabad - A recent news report carried by several national daily newspapers incorrectly attributed to the U.S. Department of State a report stating that Pakistan is the "fifth most unstable country in the world." In fact, the report, entitled the Global Peace Index project, was compiled and released by the Institute for Economics and Peace, a non-profit research organization with headquarters in Sydney, Australia and a branch office in Washington, D.C. The report is located on the Institute's website, http://www.visionofhumanity.org
The U.S. Department of State conducts congressionally-mandated annual reports on a number of important issues, including human rights, trafficking-in-persons, and religious freedom. The most recent of these reports can be viewed in English and in Urdu on the U.S. Embassy's website.
