Islamabad - In a ceremony held today in Islamabad, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson signed a $864,000 grant for conducting a feasibility study to assess the potential expansion of Pakistan's maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.  The US-funded feasibility study will result in a market assessment and business plan to expand the MRO facility.

At the signing ceremony Ambassador Patterson noted that "U.S. companies and U.S. airlines have substantial experience in the airline MRO business.  This project represents an opportunity for our countries to work together to promote economic growth in an important sector."

The feasibility study will promote cooperation in Pakistan's transportation sector and furthers U.S. commitment to broad-based economic development.  The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) funded and will implement the grant.
