Broadest Possible Participation In Elections Emphasized
11/07/2007
Islamabad – Noted American author and journalism trainer, Arnold “Skip”
Isaacs, today underscored the need for “broadest possible
participation” in an election so as to make it “truly an expression of
the will of the people.”
“If journalism has been meeting its
responsibilities to tell the truth then the whole of civil society
improves,” the American author Isaacs noted while delivering a talk on
“local and national elections and the media” at the National University
of Modern Languages (NUML) here.
Arnold Skip Isaacs is currently
in Pakistan to hold a series of journalism training workshops on
“covering elections” in different parts of the country from October 29
to November 9.
“The way that journalists can protect free and
fair elections is to educate voters about the issues, the process and
the results,” Isaacs highlighted.
Arnold “Skip” Isaacs has
already held workshops in Peshawar, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, and
Islamabad and will be in Karachi on the last leg of his trip.
