International Education Week 2007 - Message From The U.S. President George W. Bush

11/13/2007

THE WHITE HOUSE
Washington, D.C.
October 31, 2007

I send greetings to those participating in International Education Week 2007, hosted by the Department of State and the Department of Education.

Education is the gateway to a hopeful tomorrow. By learning new languages and experiencing foreign cultures, more Americans can understand the challenges of the world around us. Students from around the globe who study in the United States through the Fulbright Program and other exchanges have an opportunity to learn more about America and build bridges of understanding between nations. International Education Week is an opportunity to raise awareness about cultures beyond our borders.

I appreciate the Department of State and Education, government officials, and teachers for your commitment to excellence in global education. Your efforts encourage international cooperation and ensure a more peaceful world for future generations.

Laura and I send out best wishes.

George W. Bush
