12/26/2007

Islamabad – The latest issue of the U.S. Embassy’s monthly magazine, “Khabr-o-Nazar” (News and Views), features the theme of “Freedom of Media in Pakistan” with detailed accounts of meetings of various American diplomats with a cross-section of Pakistan’s journalistic community, the U.S. Embassy announced today.

“I am a great admirer of the Pakistani news media. I applaud all for the great strides made every day towards more an independent and responsible media,” U.S. Ambassador Anne W. Patterson told a national conference of media professionals in Islamabad. “The United States values freedom of the press as a key component of democratic governance.”

The latest issue of the magazine also highlights the visit of noted U.S. journalist, author, and academician Arnold R. Isaacs, who conducted journalism training workshops in different parts of the country on election coverage.

The current issue also highlights various activities in health and education sectors of USAID and the three U.S. consulates in Lahore, Peshawar, and Karachi.

The popular monthly magazine “Khabr-o-Nazar” (News and Views), considered to be "Pakistan's window to America," is also available online at the U.S. Embassy's website. To access it, readers can click on:
