United States, Pakistan Celebrate 10 Years of Police Partnership with Inauguration of New Police Training Facility (January 27, 2012)

U.S. and Pakistani Law Enforcement officials celebrated 10 years of partnership and cooperation today with the inauguration of a new classroom at Islamabad Police Lines. More than 15,000 Pakistani law enforcement officers have been trained as part of the U.S. Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) in the past decade. R. Carr Trevillian, Director of ICITAP, travelled to Pakistan to meet with senior Pakistani police counterparts and to review ongoing assistance programs.

Mr. Trevillian toured the National Police Academy, Islamabad Capitol Territory Police Office, Islamabad Police Lines, Islamabad Traffic Police, and the National Forensics Science Agency where he met with concerned officials.

ICITAP has a worldwide mission to work with foreign governments to develop professional and transparent law enforcement institutions that protect human rights, combat corruption, and reduce the threat of transnational crime and terrorism. ICITAP is situated in the Department
of Justice's Criminal Division and is funded primarily by the Department
of State.
