Appointments
We require an appointment for all routine services, except notary services and adding additional passport pages to a valid U.S. passport. The online appointment system allows you to schedule your own appointment in a time slot that suits you. This process is fast and easy and improves the quality and efficiency of the service that we provide.

For notary services or adding pages to a valid U.S. passport, individuals may come to the Consular Section at the Embassy between 9:30 and 11:30 am Monday through Thursday without an appointment.
Availability
We process appointment-based services from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you are late for your appointment, we will ask you to reschedule. We suggest you arrive at least 15 minutes early to clear security.
We never require an appointment for emergency services.
Arriving at the Consular Section
The U.S. Embassy is located in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave.
When visiting the Consular Section, you must take the Diplomatic Shuttle. It is located at Third Avenue near Quaid-e-Azam University Road, G-5 Islamabad. The Diplomatic Shuttle will transport you from the Diplomatic Shuttle Service Center to the Consular Section for a small fee. Please ensure that you have some kind of identification with you, preferably your U.S passport. Other forms of identification may also be acceptable. If you need emergency service or have lost your passport, please inform security at the Diplomatic Shuttle Service Center of this and state that you are an American Citizen.
Everyone entering the U.S. Embassy is subject to search. No luggage, electronic or photographic equipment is permitted in our waiting room or on Embassy premises.
What to Bring
Everyone entering the Embassy must bring a valid, government-issued I.D.
Please print and prepare the required documents before coming to your appointment. Document requirements for specific services are below. Appointments are required for these services:

- Report the Birth of Your American Citizen Child in Pakistan
What Not to Bring
The following items are not allowed in the Embassy during your interview:
- mobile phones
- electronic personal digital assistants
- cameras
- audio or video recording devices
- laptop computers
- portable music players
- travel bags
- back packs
- briefcases
- suitcases
- cosmetics (including but not limited to spray perfume, cologne and talcum or baby powder)
- bottles of any kind
- food items
- any sealed envelopes or packages.
Other items may be prohibited based on security staff discretion. There is no storage available for prohibited items. If you bring prohibited items with you, you will have to dispose of them before entry.
